Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University and Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust are proud to present this one-day virtual masterclass.

The programme is for Senior Leaders who need to gain increased awareness and knowledge relating to a Restorative Just and Learning Culture.

Just cultures that are restorative as opposed to retributive are becoming increasingly recognised for their contribution in dealing with adverse events and significant incidents, managing employee relations, developing high performing teams, and enabling the delivery of safe and continuous care.

Northumbria Universities research ‘Restorative Just Culture Interventions: implementation and effectiveness in NHS Trusts’ is at the forefront of research on restorative implementation approaches and has been incorporated into our 2026 programmes providing ‘up to date’ insights from 45 NHS Trusts in England.

You will gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to adopt and implement Restorative Just Culture practices and approaches internally within your own organisation.

On the one-day programme, you will learn the theory behind the approach of Restorative Just Culture and how to implement this in your organisation. The benefits of this approach include improved relationship management across your organisation, improved staff survey results, reduced grievance and disciplinary cases and increased motivation, which lead to higher levels of safe and continuous care.

Your study will include an assessment of your own organisation’s context and readiness for organisational change relating to Restorative Just Cultures and Principles. The programme includes, Principles and Practice of a Restorative Just and Learning Culture, Organisational readiness for cultural change, Organisational Design and Effectiveness, Psychological Contracts and Safety, Compassionate Leadership and Team Health.

The one-day programme will be delivered using digital virtual delivery. You will participate in live expert speaker sessions and group sessions to better understand Restorative Just Cultures and Principles.
