Dr Sharnil Pandya

Sharnil Pandya is an Assistant Professor in Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University. He earned his doctorate in the field of the Internet of Things and a master's in information technology from Swinburne University, Australia. With 12 years of teaching experience, he has instructed various subject modules in AI & Data Science, IoT and Embedded Systems. His research interests encompass AI for Sensors and information processing, AI for Wellness, AI for Acoustics, and AI for Computer Vision. He is particularly passionate about interdisciplinary research and projects, with over 90 papers published or presented in esteemed international conferences and scientific journals along with 4 published and 1 granted patents. Sharnil Pandya is the recipient of the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoc Fellowship for the year 2021 and has also secured a notable € 222,727,68 research project grant as a co-investigator, sponsored by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program. Furthermore, he has also received a KMDT Research grant of 100,000 SEK in the domain of heartbeat Classification and another 100,000 EUR research grant from Disability Research Centre, King Saud University in the domain of elderly ADLs monitoring and Dementia. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for esteemed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Internet of Things, Scientific Reports, Nature, and IEEE Sensors, and works as an academic editor for venues including JBHI, Sensors, Electronics, Journal of Healthcare Engineering, Frontiers in Computer Science, and IEEE Sensors. His primary research areas include AI for Sensors and information processing, AI for Wellness, AI for Acoustics, and AI for Computer Vision.
