Dr Wenying Fu

Assistant Professor

Department: Geography and Environmental Sciences

I have received my doctoral degree from the Institute of Economic and Cultural Geography at the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. I was Associate Professor in Human Geography at the South China Normal University in Guangdong, and have been appointed as Senior Lecturer at Northumbria since 2018. My areas of expertise include regional innovation systems, global production networks, and informal economies. I single-authored a book published by Springer, Towards a dynamic regional innovation system: Investigation into the electronics industry in the Pearl River Delta. My research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Economic Geography, Research Policy, Journal of Economic Surveys, Annals of Regional Science, Tijdschrift voor economische en sociale geografie, German Journal of Economic Geography, etc. I have been funded as PI by by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Regional Studies Association.
