We are delighted to announce our upcoming Conference on the Business Ethics landscape in the UK, sponsored by the Society for Business Ethics. 

This conference will provide a snapshot of business ethics research in the UK. It seeks to bring together scholars interested in the theory and practice of business ethics to engage in discussions and share insights on contemporary issues and challenges.

We invite Abstracts across all sub-disciplines in the field of business ethics, including, but not limited to: 

  • Corporate and social responsibility and organisational behaviour
  • Corporate Governance, finance, economics and accounting
  • Cultural and global dynamics in business ethics
  • EDI 
  • Ethics in business and consumer markets
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation
  • Human resource management, leadership, work and employment
  • Law and ethics in business
  • Moral philosophy, religion, and tradition
  • Sustainability 
  • Technology, AI and Business Ethics
  • Psychological and sociological perspectives on Business Ethics

Keynotes:

Prof. Laura Spence: Business Ethics and the Ethics of Ambiguity

Laura J. Spence is Professor Business Ethics at Royal Holloway University of London,  a visiting fellow at the Centre for Corporate Reputation and Kellogg College, University of Oxford, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Laura is a consulting editor of the Journal of Business Ethics and was the business ethics, sustainability and corporate social responsibility lead for the Research Excellence Framework 2021 Sub panel for Business & Management. She is currently working on a range of conceptual and empirical research relating to inequalities and the marginalised, and the social and environmental impacts of business. Her research on the Ethics of Ambiguity presented in her keynote address is in collaboration with Eero Vaara, University of Oxford.

Prof. Chris Cowton: Academic business ethics and corporate practice: reflections on connections

Chris Cowton is Emeritus Professor at the University of Huddersfield, having served as Professor of Accounting (1996-2016), Dean of the Business School (2008-2016) and Professor of Financial Ethics (2016-2019). Now London-based, from 2019 to 2023 he was Associate Director of the Institute of Business Ethics, where he contributed to its strategic leadership and  the delivery of its training, advisory and applied research activities. He is a recipient of the British Accounting and Finance Association Life-time Achievement Award.

Submission

We welcome abstracts of up to 500 words and these will be considered within 10 working days. Please complete your submission by uploading your abstract here no later than Friday 28 February 2025.
