Advanced Clinical Practitioner Masterclass - Raising The Roof on Research - 15th November 2024

This event is part of a suite of masterclasses aimed at Qualified Advanced Practitioners working across multiple specialities within the North East, North Cumbria & Yorkshire region and are kindly funded by NHS England North East & Yorkshire Regional Advancing Practice Faculty. This event is also supported by the International Journal of Advancing Practice and the Advanced Practice series, British Journal of Nursing and The Advanced Practitioner textbook series, Wiley-Blackwell Publishing.

  • Do you strive to facilitate transformation of health and care service delivery within your Advanced Clinical Practitioner role?
  • Do you enhance outcomes and experiences of individuals and communities within your Advanced Clinical Practitioner role?

Come and join us for an interactive day of seminar and workshop-based sessions that will bust common myths surrounding quality improvement and research. We aim to showcase how health and care professionals may engage in, and with, research within the North East & Yorkshire in an advanced practice context.

Provisional topics to include:

  • How to write for publication (inc. publishing your dissertation project)
  • How to lead and perform quality improvements projects (inc. clinical audit)
  • How to progress your critical appraisal skills
  • How to write a research bid
  • How to develop as a qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed methods researcher
  • How to make statistics meaningful -  a beginners guide
  • How to become a peer reviewer
  • How to become a textbook contributor
  • How to become a textbook editor
  • Exploring the challenges surrounding advanced practice research
  • Introducing a new UK-wide academy of research in advanced practice
  • Introducing the NHS England Multi-professional Practice-based Research Capabilities Framework

 

Please note that the topics covered on each of the two days may differ. The final programme will be confirmed in September 2024.

These masterclasses map to the following capabilities of the NHS England (2017) Multi-professional framework for Advanced Clinical Practice Research pillar:

 

4.1 - Critically engage in research activity, adhering to good research practice guidance, so that evidence-based strategies are developed and applied to enhance quality, safety, productivity and value for money.

4.3 - Critically appraise and synthesise the outcome of relevant research, evaluation and audit, using the results to underpin own practice and to inform that of others.

4.5 - Actively identify potential need for further research to strengthen evidence for best practice.

4.8 - Facilitate collaborative links between clinical practice and research through proactive engagement, networking with academic, clinical and other active researchers

However, Northumbria University offers a host of catering options across both City and Coach Lane campuses giving you a variety of quality food and beverage options.
