Career Path: Business Development Manager and Partner, Beyond Dubai
Location: Dubai, UAE

Just after graduation, I worked for Cisco Systems in Newcastle for about one year. Then I decided to start looking for something else overseas, my choice was either New York or Dubai. Microsoft Dubai offered me an amazing opportunity, that’s how I started my journey in Dubai. Two years after my first step in Dubai, I founded my own company, a destination management company called Beyond Dubai.

What are you doing now?

Being the founder and working at Beyond Dubai involves wearing a few different hats. I work mainly from Dubai in the UAE and am responsible for attracting new markets in this region for holidays, conferences or incentives. I take care of the marketing, sales and IT side of the business. Moreover, I am responsible for my team so they have to be well trained and feel comfortable to be able to give the best service to our customers

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I was studying in France and they had this Erasmus programme. My goal was to study in the UK and Northumbria University was offering exactly the degree I wanted to get.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

Originally the fun student life and opportunity to meet new people attracted me. I also wanted to experience a new culture.

What was the best thing about your course?

Three things: the variety of courses, the sports hall and the library. If I had to choose one it would be the variety of all the courses. I also took part in the Postgraduate Student Society which was a good way to meet and share with students from all over the world.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

It was the greatest three years of my life that I will never regret - education achievements, great teachers, professional experience and great friends.

Which skills/ knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

This experience helped me to gain so much confidence in my social and professional life.

What advice would you give somebody who is thinking of studying at Northumbria?

Give the best of yourself, study hard, and enjoy your time. It’s very important to have balance. I would also advise students to either get a part-time job or get involved in a society. You will meet great people. Go for it, you won’t regret it. You have everything at your disposal so give it your best.
