Workforce Development

Workforce development helps to create and sustain a viable and capable workforce, which can respond flexibly to change, and brings mutual benefit for employer and employee.   

In SWECW, our breadth of knowledge and depth of expertise means we have a strong reputation for undertaking Continued Professional Development (CPD) across a number of sectors. We have a raft of experience of working alongside businesses and employers to assist in the development of their workforce and to promote sustainability of their provision. This may include the development of CPD activities or consultancy. It may be a one-off non-accredited training course or may include accredited activity which supports the long-term vision of the organisation. The most effective workforce development occurs with careful planning and embeds research or an evaluation of the impact of such activity.   

Recent examples of workforce development have occurred in social work, where academics delivered a series of safeguarding sessions for Local Authority practitioners, and in education where another Local Authority requested support with responding to societal changes in the area. Indeed, our reputation means that we can be the partner of choice for Local Authorities and organisations to provide bespoke CPD. We aim to be responsive to ever changing policy and partner needs.
