Undergraduate Study

Every student has their own requirements, so the law school provides a suite of law and law-related undergraduate programmes. From the traditional LLB (Hons) route, through to the innovative M Law Exempting Law Degrees, you will be provided with a course that satisfies the requirements of a qualifying law degree (QLD).

Professional Courses

Whether you are a law graduate or a graduate from another discipline, if you aspire to become a solicitor or barrister, Northumbria Law School can help you take those next steps toward entering the legal profession. If you are a non-law graduate, you can achieve the academic stage required to practice law through the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) (also known as the Common Professional Examination (CPE)). Completing this course would allow you to enter the Legal Practice Course (LPC) to train as a solicitor or the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) to train as a Barrister.

Postgraduate Study

As a professional, you will be looking for practical and innovative programmes with enviable reputations and a diverse and interesting student base from across the globe. Look no further. Northumbria Law School offers LLM programmes, which are accessible to a wide range of professionals, and offered full-time or via distance learning which provides a flexible approach more suited to busy lifestyles.

Careers Support

Whichever course you enrol on at Northumbria, you will receive an unprecedented level of careers support that provides regular interactions and sessions throughout your time studying. You will also be part of a law school that has extensive links with local and national firms and Chambers. Indeed, many of the teaching staff continue to practise and many more maintain links with the profession. If you enrol on the LLB (Hons)/M Law, LPC or BPTC you will have the opportunity to try out legal practice for real through the school's own legal practice – our award winning Student Law Office. You will be advising and representing members of the public under the supervision of qualified members of staff and may even need to represent your client at court or tribunal.
