Accreditation and Recognition

It is important that our Mechanical and Construction Engineering courses meet the requirements of industry as represented by the various professional bodies. Accredited and recognised programmes meet the underpinning knowledge and understanding requirements for registration set out by a professional body. This is achieved through the assessment of the programmes against defined and accepted standard criteria. The University is periodically visited by representatives of these professional bodies to ensure that the programmes adhere to their criteria. Examples of some of the professional bodies we work with are listed below:

The following courses have been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), having been judged to meet the CIOB Education Framework. Prospective members holding these qualifications have full academic exemption and may enter CIOB membership without the requirement for an Individual Assessment:

  • BSc (Hons) Construction Management
  • MSc Construction Project Management

The following course has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer:

  • BEng (Hons) Architectural Engineering
  • BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering

 

The following course has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer:

  • MEng (Hons) Architectural Engineering 
  • MEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering

1. fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

2. partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).  A programme of accredited Further Learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng.

  • BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering

IHE logoThis degree is accredited by the Institute of Highway Engineers as:

1. fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng).

2. partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).  A programme of accredited Further Learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng.

2. partially satisfying the educational base for a Chartered Engineer (CEng).  A programme of accredited Further Learning will be required to complete the educational base for CEng.
