Digital Content Creators

We are looking for creative students with digital career aspirations to work directly with the University’s Global Marketing and Business Department. You will contribute to the production of digital marketing content, including videography, photography and blog posts. 

As a Digital Content Creator, you will be sharing your experience of being a Northumbria student through the University’s website and social media channels. You must be comfortable in front of a camera, as you will be asked to participate in film projects and social media takeovers and talk about your student journey. You will also be asked to take part in quarterly content planning sessions and assigned to produce content for an average of 1-3 projects each month.

This is a paid job opportunity to work with the Global Marketing and Business department in Northumbria University.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted the following week, and interviews are expected to take place the week commencing 28th October. Please note successful candidates will be expected to attend initial training in early November and a photoshoot on 6th or 7th of November.

Job Specification

Job Title: Digital Content Creator
Hourly Rate: £12.00 (paid on a project basis, according to the number of hours required per project)
Employment Category: Casual
Responsible to: Content Coordinator
Location: Around the city & campus as required

Purpose of Post: To assist the Content Team with generating digital content aimed at prospective students, this will be used for outputs on the University’s social media, website and other channels.

Responsible for:

  • Sharing experiences of being a Northumbria student and living in Newcastle in the form of digital content outputs to encourage prospective students to find out more about studying at Northumbria, and support new students as they begin their studies.
  • Attending quarterly planning sessions to discuss, plan and generate new ideas
  • Writing or filming reviews, documenting own experiences, attending regional events (on and off campus), interviewing other students and members of staff
  • Producing video content, blog posts, podcasts and other content to demonstrate Northumbria University student life.
  • Creating social media posts and participate in social media takeovers on the University’s channels including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Keeping up to date with social media trends and local events that may be of interest to prospective students.
  • Taking part in photo shoots and videos for campaign promotion as and when required.
  • Assisting with other digital campaigns where applicable.
  • Attending and covering events on and off campus in the capacity of a Digital Content Creator.

Conditions of Employment: Successful candidates will be active members of the wider Global Marketing and Business Department, and are expected to represent the University accordingly. As an employee, you will be subject to the procedures and policies applicable to all staff members including, but not limited to, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and Disciplinary Procedure.

You will be required to attend monthly planning sessions where you will be asked to generate ideas and you will be assigned to projects to contribute to, based on your skills and your availability. Once working hours and content contribution have been agreed they should not be changed without prior agreement of the Content Coordinator.

Location: Filming/photoshoots will be based on campus and around the city as required. Other project work (e.g. editing to be completed working from home). Monthly planning sessions will take place on campus.

Payment: You will be paid on a monthly basis. 

Working Hours: Hours will vary throughout the year depending on our need and your availability. Content creators will be given the opportunity to participate in larger projects (approximately 10 hours per project) and smaller projects (up to 5 hours per project). This will never exceed 20 hours per week.
