Dr Dewan Md Zahurul Islam

Dr. Dewan Md Zahurul Islam (FCILT, FHEA) joined Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Operations and Supply Chain Management on 01 September 2022. Previously, he worked as a Lecturer in University of Plymouth Business School, UK; an Associate Professor at Bang College of Business, KIMEP University, Kazakhstan (September 2018 to December 2021); and a Senior Research Associate at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK (February 2006 to August 2018). He achieved Ph.D. from the University of Plymouth, the UK in April 2005 in Operations, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management.

He authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed, high-impact, journal and conference papers and book chapters and many public and confidential applied research reports and deliverables. Currently, his Web of Science H-Index stands at 9, Scopus H-Index stands at 11, Google Scholar H-Index stands at 18, and I-10 Index at 32. He has extensive working experience in multidisciplinary team-colleagues from developed and developing countries from different backgrounds and ethnicity. He is an active researcher in multi-disciplinary fields including Logistics 4.0, development of multimodal freight transport systems, sustainable and efficient freight transport systems, sustainable and efficient port operations, efficient and effective logistic service operations, sustainable urban logistics, sustainable warehouse operations, and efficient, effective and resilient supply chain management. He is very interested to work with PhD research applicants in these areas.
