Travelling to City Campus East

Newcastle Central Station

As a major stop on the efficient East Coast Mainline, Newcastle is just 2 hours 45 minutes from central London and 1 hour 30 minutes from Edinburgh and Leeds. Newcastle’s Central Station is located in the heart of the city centre and has its own Metro Station. Further information regarding travelling by rail can be obtained from the National Rail website.

Metro
15-20 minutes

Board the Metro at ‘Central Station’ travelling towards ‘St James via Whitley Bay’ for one stop and change at ‘Monument’. At the Monument, take the stairs or lift up to Platform 3. Then board any train travelling to ‘South Shields via Whitley Bay’. Exit the train at Manors, turn right and walk up the ramp or stairs and. At the lights, cross the road and City Campus East will be straight ahead. 

Bus
15-20 minutes

Leave Central Station via the left-hand exit and head for  bus stop H on Clayton Street, take the number 62 bus to New Bridge Street. This will drop you just outside New Bridge Street Accommodation and is just a 2 minute walk from the Business & Law Building.

Taxi
8 Minutes

Walk
25 Minutes

Exit the train station via the left-hand exit, walking towards the taxi rank, take a left and turn onto Grainger Street.Follow Grainger Street until you see Monument. Walk past Monument, taking a slight left on Blackett Street towards Northumberland Street. Turn left up Northumberland Street for 0.1 mi, taking a left at Saville Row. Head straight, past Tesco, the lights and Northumbria's Ellison Building until you reach the white pedestrian bridge. Cross the bridge and the left is City Campus East and the Business & Law Building. 

Northumbria University by Metro

Manor Metro Station
3-5 Minute Walk

As a great option from the station, Manors metro station is just a few minutes walk from our Business sand Law Building at CCE (City Campus East). Just Take a right our the exit, walk up the ramp/stairs, cross at the lights and you'll see the iconic CCE buildings ahead. 

Monument Metro Station
7 Minute Walk

Another great option from Central Station, just exit through the Northumberland Road exit and head north towards Haymarket. Here you'll discover Newcastle's shopping High Street and at the corner by WHSmith, take a right and head straight until you reach the CIS Building at Northumbria University. 

Manor Metro Station
3-5 Minute Walk

A great option for those travelling from the Coast. Make sure to take a right out of the main entrance on Northumberland Road and head fro St. Mary's place. Walk along Sandyford Road, past Greggs and Costa and you'll the University Library ahead.

Local Bus Services

Newcastle has extensive local bus services, with operator including Go North East, Arriva, QuayLink & Stage Coach. 

Haymarket is a great place to start if you're looking for bus services within the Tyne and Wear and Northumberland. 

You can also make the most of the national bus links with operators like Mega Bus and National Express linking with the South and Scotland. 

Central Station
10 minutes

From bus stop H on Clayton Street, take the number 62 bus to New Bridge Street. This will drop you just outside New Bridge Street Accommodation and just a 2 minute walk from the Business & Law Building.

The Coast
10 minutes

Services by Arriva and Go North East like the 309 & 310 run every 15-20 minutes and connect Newcastle City Centre with most of North Tyneside. You can download the apps to track live bus times and staff up-to-date. 

Gateshead
3-5 minutes

Gateshead Interchange, accessible via Gateshead Metro Station is great option for those wanting to explore South Tyneside. Visit the Nexus website for more info, buses and timetables.
