People, Work, Organisation (PWO)

The People, Work and Organisation (PWO) research group drives research that explores how we can enable people to thrive and flourish in high-performing organisations that are also great places to work. In our research we learn from the past and present to prepare for the future by exploring issues from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Our research is characterised by a commitment to organisational practices that promote inclusive and fair work. We drive research that informs policy and practice, embracing a broad range of disciplines and methodologies.

With a strong foundation in fields such as human resource management; equality, diversity, and inclusion; meaningful work; and critical management studies, we collaborate on groundbreaking research that challenges conventional practices and promotes inclusive and innovative solutions that empower both individuals and organisations to thrive.

Our research is characterised by a commitment to organisational practices that promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

We explore the meanings we attribute to, and derive from, work, especially in the context of ageing, health and wellbeing, and parenting.

We drive research that examines human resource management, human resource development, coaching, competency and performance management, work design, organisational change, agile frameworks, and SME dynamics.

Critical Management Studies challenges conventional management, focusing on ethical practices, social justice, and power dynamics in organisations. Our research challenges workplace norms to foster inclusive, equitable, and people-centred environments.
