Northumbria Enterprise and Business Support (NEBS)

ERDF_LogoNorthumbria Enterprise and Business Support, a project part funded by the ERDF, has recently ended. Its aim has been to enhance the competitiveness and growth of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and the creation of new enterprises in Tyne & Wear and Northumberland.

The project focused on promoting entrepreneurship amongst students and graduates as well as strengthening the capacity of SMEs to become more innovative and grow in regional, national and international markets. The support helped over one hundred SMEs to employ a graduate intern and 75 new jobs were created as a result of the project. Northumbria students and graduates were also supported in developing enterprise skills and starting their own business.

We talked to some of the employers about their experience of the internship programme.
