Where are you from?

Stockton-on-Tees

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

The course looked brilliant, had excellent facilities and it was close enough to come home if I wanted go back.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is a great place to live, friendly people, made lots of new friends and the nightlife is a great bonus!

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

There is always something going on with it being a busy place, you're never bored and have nothing to do.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming?  Was it easy to fit in?

Yes, very helpful staff and everyone is in the same position and bit nervous about meeting new people so you're not alone.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Meeting all the new people and the new challenges. Such as doing a lot more for myself.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Students in higher years make you more inspired when you see the quality of work they're producing, it makes you want to achieve at that level as well.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Students' Union is great for socialising with very reasonable priced food and drink and the library facilities are also really great with 24 hour access which is very useful when deadlines are approaching.

What is the best thing about your course?

The people on the course are very friendly and everyone is willing to help each other and share their knowledge of things you might struggle with which is great, and the staff are there with very helpful advice to help push your work in the right direction.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Learning to look after myself and become a more mature individual.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

When I come to finish my degree I hope to get a job in the creative industry hopefully working in a graphic design agency or doing freelance work.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I have done some minor freelance work on the side of the course using knowledge from what I've learned and hope to in the near future go on a placement as it will hopefully help create opportunities for me to work my way into a design agency.

Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.

The course has had many opportunities to go on trips such as Amsterdam and local museums as part of project and hopefully more as I progress through the course.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

It's a great opportunity and a great university and I would highly recommend considering coming to study here.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I feel I've grown a lot with confidence and it's been the step I needed to grow up as a person and become an adult.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Exciting, challenging, fun!

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Definitely, a friend of mine is currently in the process of changing university to come study here!
