Music Taster Day

We are excited to announce our A Level Music Taster Day, which will take place at our City Campus, in February. The event is free with limited spaces and is therefore first come first served.

Please use the form at the bottom of this page to sign up to the event. (Please note that schedule and timings may be subject to change)

The schedule for the event can be found below:

 Baroque Concerto (Tuesday 4th February)

When engaging with music of the past, what do we need to know in order to bring it to life in performance? In this study day, you will work with Northumbria University academic experts, exploring the social and historical background to concertos by Vivaldi and his contemporaries, as well as thinking about analytical approaches to the concerto. A live, lunchtime recital will give you practice in responding to unfamiliar music related to your A-level set works, and will be followed by an opportunity to learn more about the harpsichord, its history and how it works. You will also be introduced to figured bass and how players use it to make up their own parts.
