Apply for Accommodation

You can apply for accommodation in five easy steps:

1. Make Northumbria University your FIRM choice

Coming to Northumbria through clearing or adjustment? Once you've received your offer, you will need to refer yourself through UCAS Track to accept it.

If Northumbria was your second/insurance choice and you don't get a place at your firm choice, your choice will automatically become firm at Northumbria if you meet the requirements of your course. You will still need to accept the offer of a place before you can book accommodation.

2. Receive your student portal login details via email, log in and go to the Accommodation section to start your application.

Top Tip: Make sure you register with your personal email address and not one associated to a school/college. School/College email addresses are often closed after you leave and can delay the process.

Lost your login details? Get in touch with our IT team using the Lost Details form or call IT helpline on 0191 227 4242.

3. Select your preferences

You will be asked for your accommodation preferences to help us find the best fit for you. You will be able to choose between en-suite and shared bathroom facilities, and also select flat preferences such as single/mixed gender or whether you'd like to have a washing machine directly in your flat.

4. Receive your accommodation offer

You will receive an offer of accommodation based on the preferences you give us. Most students receive their offers within the next few days of making the application.

We guarantee accommodation for all first year students, including students who come through Clearing and Adjustment or students joining us for a Foundation course. All students who request en-suite facilities will receive an offer of an en-suite room.

5. Accept your accommodation offer

To accept your accommodation offer, you will be asked to sign a tenancy agreement and make a £250 deposit payment to secure the room.

Please note that if you are booking Camden Court, you will be asked to provide a guarantor/

Top Tip: Make sure you read your contract carefully as it is a legally binding contract. If you don’t understand anything, get in touch, we will be happy to run through it with you.

Once you've completed the process above, the room is secured for you. You will also get access to our dedicated Facebook groups to help you connect with flatmates before you arrive.
