HS3010 - Collaborative Project

You will be expected to actively engage in the learning process, participate in group-work and apply what is taught in the university.
You learn through a combination of lectures, workshops, directed, independent and group learning opportunities.
Some content will be delivered via a ‘flipped classroom’ learning approach, (a mix of e-lectures and seminars).

Lectures cover theories and concepts so you can tackle a series of guided exercises and many are electronic, therefore you can access them as many times as you need.
Technology enhanced learning will facilitate your learning and enable flexibility and independence as you progress through the module; Blackboard Ultra will enable you to access general module information, review all taught content remotely and will host independent, interactive e-learning which will underpin taught sessions. You will have access to Panopto video recordings to enhance your understanding of the module and assessment requirements

You benefit from feed-forward feedback, where your assessment becomes part of your learning and enables you to understand what you do well and what academic skills you need to develop during your foundation year. You are formatively assessed help you successfully work towards your summative assessment, the feedback you receive will also increase your learning and understanding

You will have a named Personal Tutor, who will provide help and advice at every stage of the programme. The module leader will provide guidance on the content of the module during formal teaching time, and throughout the academic year time will set aside on a regular basis for individual and small group tutorial support should you wish to access this. You will also be provided with the contact details of key module personnel within the module handbook and on the e-learning platform.?Lecturers will facilitate seminar groups to support academic development. You will have access to lecturers at specifically designated times via online forums; email; group tutorials and one to one meetings.??Formative and summative assessment tasks include ‘feedforward’ in preparation for assignments, and ‘feedback’ to identify aspects of students’ strengths and aspects which require development. Formative Assessment:
Working independently, the student will explore a key theme / area of relevance to their planned programme of onward undergraduate study. This work will be informally presented to peers and academic staff within the group showcase allocation who will offer feedback through group discussion. This work will contribute to the group showcase presentation, building on elements presented to address the summative assessment criteria (MLO 1-5)

Summative Assessment:
The summative assessment for this module is a 15-minute group presentation where you will be asked to explore ‘What is ….?’ (adult nursing, social work, primary education etc) highlighting relevant key themes and utilising skills developed from all FY modules (Nominal 1000 words)

You will receive written feedback following your summative assessment, which will indicate the mark awarded to your group for the module and areas for future development.
All students within each group will receive the same mark.

This module is designed for those students wishing to apply to progress onward to a suite of Health, Education and Social Care provided at Northumbria University (see programme specification for details of these) or to prepare you for other further study or employment in the sector.
This specific module will allow students to gain 20 credits at level 3 study and will, along with the other elements of the Foundation Year programme, provide ongoing preparation for students to access levels 4, 5 & 6 of their higher education journey. The content is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to undertake a directed group project.

The module is designed to employ an independent approach to learning, allowing students to develop their skills in literature research, appraisal and evaluation. The focus on professionalism, across the inter-related health, education and social care spectrum, will allow the learner to strengthen their fundamental knowledge and skills in accordance with the contemporary issues, providing a firm foundation for future studies and the development of professional identities.

The creative approach to assessments within this module will provide the opportunity for structured peer and academic feedback to enable the student to improve and consolidate their learning activity.
The module will contribute to the culmination of the Foundation Year in Health, Education and Social care and will provide an opportunity to reflect on personal development and celebrate achievement.
