Dr Shine Win Naung

Research Fellow

Department: Mechanical and Construction Engineering

Dr Shine Win Naung joined the Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering at Northumbria University as a Research Fellow in 2021. He is currently involved in the renewable and low-carbon energy technologies projects. He mainly works on the modelling and simulation of renewable energy systems based on a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method and a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method. During his time at Northumbria University, he developed a novel computational method for the aerodynamic and aeromechanical analysis of wind turbines to analyse the complex flow physis associated with fluid-structure interactions. Prior to this, he worked on the structural analysis and optimisation of wind turbines at Manchester Metropolitan University in Manchester and Waseda University in Tokyo. He also worked on the development of wind power projects in Myanmar.

Dr Shine Win Naung received his First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK in 2013 and Masters degree in Modern Mechanical Engineering from Waseda University in Japan in 2016. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Northumbria University in 2021. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMechE).
