I am particularly interested in the artistic and cultural development of Nanzhao and Dali’s Buddhist culture, especially the forces that influenced these cultures and how these Kingdoms in turn influenced neighbouring civilisations.
The Yunnanese Buddhist sculptures possess some unique characteristics, and the Research Center houses some significant Buddhist sculptures and objects of the Nanzhao&Dali kingdoms. Thus, I am intended to utilise these objects to analyse the artistic development and the iconography of the Yunnanese Buddhism. More importantly, due to many of the sculptures have never been unraveled to the audience, they can definitely offer some original evidence to shed some lights for the academia on the development of Nanzhao&Dali’s Buddhist culture.
