Jill Gilthorpe

Assistant Professor

Department: Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation

Jill is a registered chartered physiotherapist (MCSP, HCPC) and Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy. Prior to teaching her clinical physiotherapy experience was varied but mainly within inpatient care with a focus on respiratory care and critical care.

Jill is currently Module Lead for two physiotherapy modules, Foundations in Physiotherapy Practice and Introduction to Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy.

Jill has a genuine interest in teaching and facilitating students’ learning of core areas of physiotherapy practice. She is involved in developing the use of simulation, both high and low fidelity within the physiotherapy programmes and within interprofessional teaching. She is actively engaged in learning and teaching and has a Masters in Academic Practice.

Jill contributes to interprofessional learning and teaching within healthcare programmes at the university, working with closely with colleagues in nursing, occupational therapy, midwifery and operating department practitioners as a member of the Moving and Handling and Basic Life Support Teams.
