Charlotte Ellis

Charlotte Ellis joined Northumbria Law School in 2008 from full time practice as a barrister at Keating Chambers, London. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2001 having studied law (BA Jurisprudence and BCL (European and Comparative Law)) at Wadham College, Oxford.

During her time at Keating Chambers Charlotte specialised in construction and engineering disputes, and acted in a number of international arbitrations. She also taught on the LLM programme at Queen Mary, University of London and trained as a mediator. Charlotte continued to practise as a Door Tenant of Keating Chambers from her base in the North East until December 2010.

Charlotte’s teaching and research focus on contract law and related aspects of the law of restitution. She is currently undertaking a part time PhD at the University of York, funded by the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities (a Centre for Doctoral Training supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council). Her doctoral research, supervised by Professor Jenny Steele, is on methodology in contract scholarship.
