Hilary Abbott-Brailey

Assistant Professor

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

She is a senior lecturer teaching predominantly on the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies / Registered Nurse programmes and has also contributed to teaching programmes with international partners. Hilary has a keen interest in all aspects of communication and compassion within health care practice, particularly within nurse / patient relationships. She was involved in the Common Learning Programme as a member of the project team in the North East of England in relation to interprofessional learning within clinical practice. Hilary is also interested in curriculum development and is exploring ways of using creative learning / teaching approaches within the pre-registration nursing curricula, facilitating students to explore their experiences through media such as poetry.  Hilary is a link tutor for the Erasmus programme within the Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, facilitating student exchanges with partner institutions in Spain.
