Paul Ridley

 Newcastle City Council, Senior Internal Auditor

Paul carries out formal audits of digital strategic, governance, infrastructure, software and communication systems.  He provides advice and guidance of current and emerging threats, key risks and effective solutions particularly around cybercrime where he has developed his own Cybercrime assessment tool.  Paul currently also carries out housing fraud investigations and prosecutions.  He is also a computer forensic investigator and use these techniques in formal investigations. Peter is a part qualified account and uses these skills in undertaking the various audits including forensic investigations.  He has a background of both private and public sector having worked for over 30 years in banking, universities, police, central government, transport and other governments related organisations.  Paul is always keen to use research to inform his recommendations and apply these in a developmental manner, which receives positive feedback.  He therefore is a keen and supportive member of this group in assisting both academic staff and students to develop, be successful and most of all happy, safe and contented.

Paul’s qualifications are CISA (ISACA - Certified Information Security Auditor), CRMA (IIA - Institute of Internal Auditors - Certified Risk Management Assurance), CIPFA afil, related to fraud investigation, formally qualified Fraud Investigator ‘Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice’ (BTEC Level 7).
