Our UCAS clearing advice for parents and Guardians.

Help your child prepare for UCAS Clearing on results day 2024.

Results day can be stressful for friends and family as well as students. Here at Northumbria University, we want to help you prepare in the best way possible.

If your child has achieved the grades they need for their firm choice university or college, then smile and celebrate. Their place will be automatically confirmed and they’ll be off on the next stage of their studies before you know it.

If they have just missed out on the grades and points needed, they may be accepted by their insurance choice institution. The best thing for them to do is check UCAS Hub, which will show the status of their application.

Some students will not have gained the grades they need for their firm or insurance choice of university. That doesn’t mean they can’t go to university or college. They may still find a place on another course.

Every year, a large number of students use the UCAS Clearing process to find a place at university or college. It’s really not that unusual and many students have found a place at Northumbria University through Clearing.

We’ve got experienced staff on hand to support students through Clearing. Your child can call our Clearing Hotline on 0800 085 1085 and a specialist advisor will talk to them about what’s available and guide them through the entire process. We can only speak to students though, so sorry we can’t talk to you on their behalf.

For more advice, we’ve shared our top tips here to help you get the most out of Clearing and support your child through the process. If you’re an international parent, visit our international parents guide here. You can also read more about our campus and safety at Northumbria on our Safety on Campus page here.
