Where are you from?

Blaydon

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I wanted to stay in the town where I grew up. Being a mature student, I wasn't bothered about gaining more life experience by moving away. I already knew Newcastle had the best night life. I had always heard exceptional stories from previous Northumbria students and knew I couldn't go anywhere else!

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I have always loved Newcastle and could never imagine studying anywhere else. I love socialising in town with friends, whether that be in  a coffee shop, cinema or pub. Newcastle has a lot of history and a lot of fun things to do. From museams to chic bistros, it has it all.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Very welcoming and I did not feel intimidated being a little older than the school leavers. Very easy to fit it, a loty of the lecturers are fun to talk to.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Feeling better for furthering my education at a later stage in life and overcoming my fear of education.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

I have had a lot of help from specific lecturers.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Lipman Cafe, cheap coffee and lovely staff. Very warm atmosphere,

What is the best thing about your course?

Getting onto a placement in the third year.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Work in a prison. I can talk better in front of people and communicate better within discussions.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Work as hard as you play. Don't miss too many lectures as it is so easy to fall behind. And if you ever have any issues, see someone. The staff are there to listen and to help as much as they can.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

My confidence level has increased a lot, I am more confident to approach people and to asak for help when needed.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Awesome, Life Changing.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
