Fashion Design and Marketing

Why did you choose Northumbria School of Design, and what did you know about us before you applied?

I knew that the School of Design had a good reputation, and were well known for their Fashion programmes.

What do you most like about Newcastle, and how do you find the city?

I like how it’s quite small and you can get everything that you need and I like how there are different types of people.

How do you find your tutors and the staff within the School?

I think all the tutors are really approachable and they always willing help us and give us advice.

What do you like most about the School of Design?

I really like the space in the School of Design building, nice and open with a lot of natural light, which makes you want to work.

Tell me a bit about your course?

I study Fashion Marketing, the course concentrates on designing and making clothes, however the difference between fashion marketing and design, is that we also look at the promotional side and learn how to promote our product.

We also look into photography and learn how to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to complete Illustrations and graphics.

If you had to pick an object to represent your course, what would it be and why?

Play Dough, I’d chose this because no matter how much you try and shape something it is always different, just like the course. No matter who is in your class everyone is different and all have their own thoughts of design and its fun!

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date during your time with us?

Time management is crucial especially in final year. I have also learnt to be more decisive in what I am doing.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

It’s a great University, a lot of one to one with tutors and everyone is really friendly at Northumbria School of Design.

What are your plans now and for the future?

To complete my collection and find a Job after graduation.
