EU Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

The EU Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity to be awarded £2,000 in your first year of full-time undergraduate study.  Students who meet the academic requirements below will automatically qualify for this high value scholarship when they enrol at the University.  There is no need to submit a separate scholarship application.  If you have any questions about this scheme, please contact eurecruitment@northumbria.ac.uk.

*Where a final overall grade is shown on the qualification certificate this will be used to judge scholarship eligibility.  Where an overall grade is not provided, an average of subjects studies will be used to assess eligibility.  In countries where state exams are taken as part of a qualification (e.g. Lithuania and Latvia) the average will be based on school subject grades shown on the certificate. 

 

2019 Terms and Conditions

In order to qualify for the EU Excellence Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Make an application to Northumbria University for a full-time Undergraduate course at the Newcastle upon Tyne Campus.
  • Disclose all relevant qualifications in your application form. If you have eligible qualifications that are not listed, we cannot determine your eligibility and you will not be considered as a candidate for the EU Academic Excellence Scholarship.
  • Achieve the Country Academic Requirements, as well as all other terms and conditions of their University offer.
  • Be eligible to pay Home fees. This scholarship is not available for students who are eligible to pay international fees.
  • Be ordinarily a resident in an EU member state outside of the UK. This scholarship is not available for European students who are already a resident in the UK when they apply to study at the University. For the avoidance of doubt, the address shown on your application will be used to confirm your residence status.

Important Information

  • There is no separate application form for this scholarship; eligible EU students will be automatically considered.
  • You must be a fully enrolled student when each of the payments are made. You will receive 25% in November, 25% in February and 50% in May.
  • Payment will be made in year one level four students only. Students on Foundation Year programmes are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • The EU Academic Excellence Scholarship is only awarded in the first year and is not a yearly payment.
  • If you owe the University tuition fees or have other outstanding debt, then payment will not be made until the debt is cleared and you may be withdrawn from the EU Academic Excellence  Scholarship scheme.
  • If you take a leave of absence or defer your place at Northumbria University before the scholarship has been paid, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.
  • If you decide to leave your course after the scholarship payment has been made, the University will not make efforts to reclaim the amount.
  • Recipients of the scholarship may be asked to support the University's wider EU recruitment activities. Arrangements for this will be negotiated with individual students as required.
  • Northumbria reserves the right to change the format of the Academic Excellence Scholarship, amend these terms and conditions or withdraw the Academic Excellence Scholarship at any time. Notice of any changes will be given on Northumbria’s website.

2018/19 Scholarships & Discounts for Full-time Undergraduate EU Students

This information is for full-time, undergraduate applicants applying to study at Northumbria University from the European Union, in the academic year 2018/19, including students enrolling in January 2019.

Northumbria University is committed to supporting EU students with outstanding academic ability. We offer a number of support packages for students depending on academic achievements and country of origin, for specific country academic requirements use the tab below.

EU Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarships

The University will offer scholarships of £2,000 to students from EU member states who meet specific academic criteria and successfully enrol on a full-time undergraduate programme.  Please note that scholarships are only available to students who are ordinarily resident in an EU member state outside the UK. EU citizens who are already living in the UK cannot benefit from this scheme. 

Scholarships will be paid to students in three instalments, 25% in November 2018, 25% in February 2019 and 50% in May 2019. There is no need to submit a separate application for this scholarship. All EU students who successfully enrol at the University will be automatically assessed and scholarships awarded to those who meet the academic criteria shown below.

I am Northumbria Global Scholarship 

The University will be awarding scholarships of up to £9,250 to EU undergraduate students joining the University in September 2018.  All you need to do is produce a 30 second video which will be shared via the University’s social media channels.  Only students who hold an offer for an Undergraduate programme starting in September 2018 will be able to compete for these high value scholarships.*  Please submit an application through UCAS to ensure you are eligible for this scheme. 

*Students who are successfully awarded the I Am Northumbria Global Scholarship will become ineligible for the EU Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship.
