The deadline for applications for Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020 is 16:00 on Friday 22 November 2019.

Terms & Conditions

To be eligible to apply for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020, you must:

  • be a UK or EU applicant with home fee status or an International applicant with overseas fee status
  • apply for an eligible January Masters course and be in receipt of an offer from Northumbria University
  • meet the conditions of your offer, and accept an offer to study on a full-time taught Masters course at Newcastle City Campus or Coach Lane in January 2020
  • be a self-funded student
  • not have fees which are paid in full or in part through a sponsorship arrangement, i.e. employer funded

Important Information

  • Students selected for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020 will no longer be eligible for any other Postgraduate discounts
  • Sponsored students are not eligible for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020
  • Students who are progressing from a partner institute where reduced fees have been agreed are not eligible for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020
  • UK, Home and EU students are still able to apply, and may be eligible for the Government Loan and other sources of finance to support PGT study. For more detail visit www.northumbria.ac.uk/pgfinance
  • The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020 is awarded as a 50% fee discount and is not a cash sum
  • Successful students will receive a 50% tuition fee discount on full-time eligible courses studied at NewcastleCity and Coach Lane Campus only
  • The reduction to fees will be made following enrolment
  • Funding is provided in the first year of study, if your course is longer than one year
  • If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
  • Northumbria University reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point
  • The University’s decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal

Eligible Courses

  • January courses are listed here (this scholarship excludes Postgraduate certificates, Postgraduate diploma's, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Pre-registration MSc, and Social Work MA courses)

Selection Process

  • There is a competitive selection process for this scholarship scheme. Applicants need to apply via online written application; a selection panel will consider all eligible applications
  • Applications will be considered on the strength of response to, in no more than 250 words: "How will being awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for January 2020 prepare you for the challenges of a constantly changing world?"
  • Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 06 December 2019
