Academic Support

Academic Support is broadly responsible for student administration processes across the University’s programme portfolio. There are 78 staff in the portfolio, split in to 3 main areas of activity:

Faculty-aligned Academic Support
The Academic Support team comprises 44 members of staff located in each of the University's four Faculties, each led by a Faculty-aligned Registrar. The team’s main responsibilities include maintaining student records; managing student module choice processes and dealing with programme-specific student enquiries; applying University regulations correctly and consistently, including the administration of the academic misconduct process; the planning and management of examination boards; coordinating assessment task approval and moderation; personal tutor allocations and advising academic staff on policies, processes and procedures

Educational Partnerships
Our Educational Partnerships Team is responsible for the management and administration of our Degree Apprenticeships provision; our delivery in our satellite campuses in London and Amsterdam and our Distance Learning offer. The team has 20 staff led by our Educational Partnerships Registrar. The team is the main point of contact for on-programme and operational matters for partners and act as liaison between the partner institution and other University departments. They are key to the success of partnership provision by providing efficient and effective management and administrative support

The Graduate School
The Graduate School has oversight of postgraduate research degrees, and in collaboration with Faculties and other Service Departments, supports postgraduate research students. At Northumbria University we aim to offer all postgraduate research degree students the maximum opportunity to succeed in their chosen research topic. This is supported by a dedicated team of academic and professional support staff based in each Faculty and Department as well as University Service Departments.
