Louise Wilson

Louise Wilson has been a working as part of an artist collaboration with her sister Jane Wilson for over two decades. Graduating in the 1989 with a joint degree show in Dundee and Newcastle then as postgraduate in a working collaboration from Goldsmiths College in 1992. They have since 1990 gained a national and international reputation as artists working with photography and the moving image, installation in an expanded form of cinema and lens based media. In 1999 they were nominated for The Turner Prize for their multi-screen video installation Gamma, 1999.

Caption: 'Image by Tape'Louise is an ARR member and has BA in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee an MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, and is a Visiting Professor of Fine Art from Wolverhampton University and a Doctor in Civil Law from Northumbria University. She was awarded a DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Berliner Kunstlerprogramm, Berlin/Hanover Germany 1996-97, IASPIS International Artist Studio Programme Stockholm 2000-2001 and 3 month Residency at the School of Fine Arts Christchurch, New Zealand with SOFA Gallery 2004.

Louise Wilson in collaboration with her sister Jane has held exhibitions in the UK and internationally in places including Kazakhstan, the USA, Canada, Japan and all over Europe. They have also exhibited widely in international group shows, including the Carnegie International (1999), Korean Biennial (2000), Istanbul Biennial (2001), Moving Pictures at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (2003), Remind at the Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria (2003), and Out of Time at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2006), 2010          “Suspending Time”, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, Portugal 2010-11 Tempo Suspenso , CGAC, Santiago de Compostela,  Sharjah Biennial (2011), 2012-13 'The Toxic Camera ' The Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, "Ruin Lust" Tate Britain(2014), "Conflict, Time and Photography" Tate Modern. The Schaulager Museum, Basel, Switzerland in the exhibition FUTURE/PRESENT 2015-2016.

In 1999, they were shortlisted for the Turner Prize. Louise has also taught at Goldsmiths and the Kunst Academy in Oslo and was Visiting Professor in Fine Art at Wolverhampton University.
