Hi, I’m Vee – a passionate entrepreneur, web developer and a stock trader.

A little bit about me:

I am a twenty-year-old from Minsk, Republic of Belarus. (What is Belarus? Let me tell you. It’s a country size of U.K. right between Russia and Ukraine but in the same time we share borders with the Baltics)

Currently, I’m in my 2nd year ‘Finance and Investment Management’ course in Northumbria. I Really enjoying my studies over here as previously I used to live and study in New Zealand (kia ora my friends) for little over than 4 years. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people.

My passion:

I'm a creator in my heart and always have been. I don't know what brings me more joy than business to be honest hehehe. As far as I could remember, I always was surrounded by the business environment. The possibilities of a business are limitless, you can help millions of people in millions of different ways. Nothing will provide you with such flexibility and variety, I guess that's why I'm so into it. In my spare time I always learn something new: Website development, Trading technics, SEO, digital marketing, blogging as well as many other things. I truly believe that great entrepreneur should know a bit of everything. So, if you into any of these things let me know and I will be very happy to discuss it with you over the cup of tea!

Interesting facts about me:

  • Movie addict – this is my daily drug.
  • I do not speak Belarussian – my mother tongue.
  • Terrible at remembering names
  • Went to Manchester to get a job but end up spending £700 on photos (Face palm).

Favourite quote:

"I never learn anything talking. I only learn things when I ask questions" - Lou Holtz

My favourite books:

  • Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki - It’s an amazing book which explains how poor and rich people think.
  • Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - Classic personal development book which explains the secret of wealth
  • Harry Potter (Do I really have to explain this one?)

Why did you choose Northumbria?

Actually, I finished my foundation year at different university but I wanted to study Investment banking so, I got myself transferred to Northumbria. The Newcastle Business School offers great course and outstanding facilities on this field. This is very beneficial for me as the finance sector is extremely competitive and does not offer enough jobs for every finance student out there. In addition, I have an amazing opportunity to work on the best industry equipment such as Bloomberg, we have over 20 terminals. These terminals make my coursework a pure heaven and saves me up a lot of time. It's so much fun to analyse markets and then make a prediction on the next price movement of a stock. (Hopefully make money as well).

My advice to first years:

  • Join Societies

Societies are great opportunity to meet new people and develop your skills while having loads of fun. In our university, we have over 110 different societies you could join, from "Cocktail Society" to  "Computer Science" society. You can always join more than one. In addition, it looks excellent on your CV if you take a committee roles.

  • Be organised

Organisation skills are crucial for studies and your future career. As a student, you'll have many tasks which you need to organise and prioritise to meet your deadlines. It's a great idea to start running your diary or planner on daily basis so you always know what needs to be done. Make a vivid list of upcoming deadlines in your phone or on your bedroom wall.

I cannot wait to tell you more!
