Dr Natalie Forster

Assistant Professor

Department: Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing

Natalie is a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria, and a member of Fuse (The Centre for Translational Research in Public Health). Her work lies at the intersection of sociology and public health, focusing in particular on the health experiences of marginalised groups, and the development and evaluation of service innovations to address inequalities in health and social care. Natalie is experienced in applying a range of research approaches to this area including narrative methodology, creative methods, systematic review, and realist evaluation and synthesis.

Using poststructuralist informed narrative inquiry, her PhD research explored the stories and preferred identities that health practitioners and Traveller Communities carry into interactions with one another, and the associated implications for communication.

Natalie teaches on the Masters of Public Health at Northumbria.
