Nigel Coates

Nigel is an Associate Professor / Director of the Business Clinic at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University.

The Business Clinic has been providing pro bono consultancy (since 2013)  to more than 600 organisations in a diverse range of sectors, including multinationals, small-to-medium size enterprises (SMEs), social enterprises, not-for-profit organisations and charities, at an estimated (by the client) value of £3.3 million (2013-22). www.Northumbria.ac.uk/businessclinic

Nigel has worked in consumer and B2B marketing/commercial management, for SMEs and a multinational before joining the University.

Nigel has undertaken applied research, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and consultancy in a number of areas including, new product development, marketing strategy for multinational companies as well as strategic marketing planning for SMEs. He also undertakes research into Learning and Teaching.

Nigel teaches on UG/Masters Programmes and supervisors doctoral students. He has examined at all these level both internal and external to the University.

Nigel is also a trustee / board member of two charities:
- The Marketing Trust
- Smile for Life Children's Charity 
and a governor / board member of Sir Charles Parsons School.
