Dr Ashleigh Blackwood

Research Fellow

Ashleigh is a scholar of medical humanities, with specific interests in eighteenth-century literature and the history of professionalised, public and lay medicine. She has published work on reproductive medicine and the professionalization of obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as medicine which explores the relationship between reading practices and the health of both body and mind. Her current work focuses on women’s involvement in the medical marketplace between 1660 and 1860.
