Career Path: Solicitor - Transport Team, Womble Bond Dickinson
Location: Stockton-on-Tees, UK

I have always wanted to be a lawyer since I went to school, a Law degree was always an obvious route for my education. I was successful in securing a training contract in 2016 and started my role in 2018 after graduating. I am now a qualified solicitor in the transport team at Womble Bond Dickinson. I also work in London at times.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I like the four year MLaw course and the chance to work in the Student Law Office.

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

I had a good experience at Northumbria and felt that I got a lot out of the seminars and lectures.

How connected was your course with industry?

Very well connected. I attended talks and lectures from law firms which encouraged me to apply early and get my job in 2018.

What was the best thing about your course?

The Student Law Office gave me valuable practical skills for starting my career.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

The Student Law Office was an experience that employers loved to hear about and it certainly helped set me apart in my application process.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

Communication, teamwork, leadership and writing skills.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

I had a great time playing sport such as boxing and football as well as completing my degree.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

Get stuck in and try new things.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

Fun, career-building and life-changing.
